Rolls Royce to develop mini nuclear reactors
Rolls Royce secures the funding to develop nuclear
As part of its bid to reach net zero carbon emissions, Rolls Royce has secured £405 million to develop the UK’s first small modular nuclear reactor. With £210 million funding from the Government, the mini plant is expected to power around 1 million homes and create up to 40,000 jobs based on British and export demand. The investment in low-carbon power generation is viewed as an opportunity for the UK to deploy more low carbon energy than ever before and ensure greater energy independence.
