When doing research of future job roles for myself once I had left school, an engineering apprenticeship seemed like the obvious route for me.
As an engineer, I knew I would get exposed to all the aspects of work which I gravitated to when I was at school. This meant being able to be hands on in my place of work and doing more problem solving and assembly work too. This also allowed me to start work at a young age and start applying my skills and knowledge daily. Engineering also allows me to express different ways of thinking, which I might not have gotten in other industries. It allows you to be more free and think outside of the box in order to solve and correct issues which you may encounter which you may not ever see in other fields of work which is another thing which I gravitated towards.
Let’s meet Harrison, who joined us a graduate
I have been interested in engineering all of my life, starting with Meccano when I was little and progressing to tinkering with robots in my free time. What fascinates me most is the ability engineers have to create just about anything. In my role as an Engineer at Tharsus, I enjoy the challenge that comes with interesting projects. Within the engineering team, there is such a diverse set of skills which, paired with the culture of challenge and be challenged, allows us to come up with some incredibly creative solutions. It’s a dynamic environment that keeps me engaged and always learning.
In the next few years, I’m excited to further develop my skills by taking on more hands-on roles within projects. I’m particularly interested in how we can continue to integrate AI into our solutions and explore its potential in new and innovative ways. Tharsus’ commitment to continuous development really aligns with my own goals, and I’m eager to grow as an Engineer while staying at the cutting edge of emerging technologies.
Let’s meet Lee, Manufacturing Manager
I started my career at Tharsus as a manufacturing operator. Over the past 5 years, I’ve been fortunate that my career has advanced through four different positions to my current role of Area Manufacturing Manager. The collaborative environment, strong career progression path, and fantastic mentoring has been key to my success. Tharsus’ management development programme has really helped me become a better leader — and a better person.
Let’s meet Katy, I.T. Technician
Before working in the I.T. department, I originally joined Universal Wolf in 2021 as a production operator. My team knew my goal was for a career with longevity and to develop my skillset. With the support of the team I changed trajectory and applied for an in training role at Tharsus. I.T. has offered learning opportunities with prospects I had never imagined. With support and encouragement from the team, I have been inspired to learn as much as possible to increase my skillset in years to come.
I am looking forward to new projects, challenges and troubleshooting issues whilst continuing my learning and development.
