How strategic procurement supports manufacturing excellence at Tharsus
In manufacturing, every great build relies on a strong supply chain. At Tharsus, that foundation is shaped by strategic procurement. This means ensuring we have the right suppliers, components, and technical knowledge in place before production even begins.

In today’s manufacturing environment, supply chain resilience and strategic procurement are more important than ever. At Tharsus, we see procurement as a core enabler of innovation and delivery.
In our latest behind the build feature, meet Jenny Humble, Strategic Procurement Controller. Jenny connects the right suppliers to the right projects and bridges the gap between procurement and engineering.
Strategic procurement – the link between supply and success
Jenny’s role is about more than ordering parts. It involves making strategic supplier decisions that set our builds up for success.
“I make sure we’re using the right supplier for the right job, understanding their capabilities, and finding solutions for even the most obscure parts. I bridge the gap between procurement and our brilliant engineers, sharing supplier knowledge so they know exactly who can assist with technical expertise.” — Jenny Humble
From sourcing hard-to-find components to ensuring the shop floor has what it needs when it needs it, Jenny’s expertise in supplier sourcing and procurement strategy keeps projects running on time and within budget.
By aligning suppliers with project needs, Jenny helps us meet customer expectations for quality, cost and speed.
Why culture matters
At Tharsus, collaboration is key, and Jenny thrives in an environment where teams share knowledge freely.
“It’s the people and the culture – everyone is willing to help, share knowledge and work together to solve problems. I enjoy working with our engineers on new projects, finding innovative solutions and ensuring we get the best value for our customers”.
— Jenny Humble
This culture of openness enables procurement and engineering to collaborate effectively, solving challenges quickly and efficiently.
How strategic procurement at Tharsus connects supplier knowledge
One of Jenny’s proudest moments so far has been organising the Tharsus supplier day, a dedicated event bringing together Tharsus suppliers to share technical knowledge and strengthen partnerships.
“Organising the supplier day has been a real highlight for me. It brought suppliers together to share technical knowledge and strengthen relationships. I’m also working on a supplier database to make it easier for our teams to access the right expertise quickly. Knowledge is power.” — Jenny Humble
While the supplier database is still in development, its purpose is clear. It will help engineers instantly identify the right contact for specialist parts or technical insight.
Supplier day 2025
Later this year, Jenny will help host Tharsus’ second Supplier Day. This focused event will bring together a select group of key suppliers whose components and expertise play a direct role in the projects currently in production on our shop floor.
The aim is to:
- Strengthen partnerships with these specialist suppliers
- Share technical knowledge that supports manufacturing success
- Explore ways to work together even more effectively in the future
By focusing on these specialist suppliers, the event enables deeper, more practical discussions that directly support our manufacturing success. It is an opportunity to strengthen relationships, share technical knowledge, and explore ways to work together even more effectively on the projects that matter most at this time.
